Job Summary:

As an integral member of the team creating a cost effective, excellent customer experience, the Shipper-Receiver is responsible for the shipping and receiving of machines, parts and supplies at Akhurst. Akhurst relies on the Shipper-Receiver to make good business decisions that reflect an effective use of company resources. The incumbent must be fully bilingual (English/French), have warehouse experience, forklift certification and possess a degree of comfort with handling machinery loads of different sizes and weights. Attention to detail and high levels of organization and accuracy are required.

Duties of Position:

  • Ship and receive machines, parts, and supplies;
  • Arrange trucking and cartage and prepare bills of lading;
  • Safely load and unload machines from trucks;
  • Crate and uncrate machines;
  • Receive returned goods and repairs and prepare proper documentation;
  • Place machines in showroom;
  • Properly identify and label parts and supplies for stock;
  • Get credit approvals;
  • Process internal packing slips and shipping information;
  • Deal with customer shipping enquires/requests and escalate as required to Logistics Coordinator; and
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse

Requirements of Position:

  • Shipping-receiving experience;
  • Valid Driver’s License and Forklift Certification;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Good written and verbal English and French skills;
  • Highly organized, with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail;
  • Ability to take the initiative and be proactive, combined with exceptional follow-up skills;
  • Highly motivated and energetic, with a positive attitude;
  • Customer service orientated;
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multi-task and think ahead to anticipate customer needs;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines for critical tasks; and
  • Motivated to learn.
