As an integral member of the team creating a cost effective, excellent customer experience, the Inside Sales Representative – Machines is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the assigned product line(s), including sales/service support, marketing, inventory management and product training. Akhurst relies on the Inside Sales Representative – Machines to make good business decisions that reflect an effective use of company resources. This position requires an incumbent who has strong product knowledge, is tech savvy and is able to see the full corporate perspective.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Vice-President Sales, the duties and responsibilities of the Inside Sales Representative – Machines include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sales and Service Support
Promptly handle dealer and customer phone inquiries in alignment with the Akhurst customer service standards;
Collaborate with and support Account Representatives in resolving any customer issues;
Produce and forward proposals to dealers and end customers;
Produce custom proposals/quotes on machines not in our standard offering;
Handle initial incoming service calls as required, collaborating with the Service Department to ensure customer satisfaction;
Collaborate with Sales Administrators to ensure quotes are accurate, up-to-date and recorded accurately in the CRM system for efficient accessibility;
Ensure factory quotes are stored on our network so that they can be accessed by the Sales Administrators and other members of the sales team when required.
Communicate and collaborate with dealers in developing strategies to maximize sales including effective dealer sales analysis, with forecasts and year over year comparisons;
Develop and maintain strong dealer relationships, resolving any issues in alignment with the Akhurst customer service standards;
Ensure geographic dealer coverage is optimized to maximize sales.
Effectively promote the product line(s) brand in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator:
Produce product videos as required to optimize product sales using a standard video format;
Ensure all marketing collateral items (such as product brochures) are in stock and up-to-date;
Ensure machines arriving into stock are the proper colour so as to promote the product line(s) brand;
Forward machine promotion information to dealers and customers (using CRM);
Ensure trade show attendees and website sales leads are added to CRM;
Assist in the preparations for trade shows and dealer open houses;
Develop “dealer day” schedule at trade shows and ensure participation of dealers; and
Ensure operations and parts manuals, photos, brochures and videos are easily accessible by all (internally and dealers).
Generate and analyze a weekly inventory report from ERP system to determine product needs for order fulfillment;
Upon approval by the Vice-President Sales, order required product and communicate with Logistics Manager and Sales Administrator to ensure the product is shipped in the most cost/effective manner;
Ensure optimal level of spare parts inventory, reordering as required;
In collaboration with the Service Technicians, identify quality issues and communicate these to supplier factories to ensure that quality issues are appropriately addressed;
Identify CSA electrical issues and ensure these are promptly rectified with factories minimize machine modification upon arrival; and
Initiate supplier warranty claims and invoice suppliers for repetitive quality issues.
Product Training for Account Representatives / Dealers
Design and deliver sales tools (e.g. videos, PowerPoint presentations, feature comparisons) for Account Representatives and dealers to promote Akhurst products and maximize sales;
Educate Account Representatives and dealers and ensure they have up to date product knowledge. As required, design and deliver approved product training materials such as webinars, PowerPoint presentations, email newsletters etc.
Sales and marketing experience with demonstrated past success in sales;
Strong product knowledge;
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, CRM, and Navision;
Highly organized, with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail;
Ability to take the initiative and be proactive approach, combined with exceptional follow-up skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills through all channels;
Motivated and energetic, with a positive attitude and a pleasant and calm demeanour;
Assertive, self-motivated, agile and able to work independently and as part of a team;
Ability to hold team members accountable;
Capable of prioritizing, multi-tasking and thinking ahead to anticipate customer needs;
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines; and
Strong desire to learn and improve skills.
Minimal out of town travel requirements;
Work normal business hours and may, from time to time, be required to do some work in the evenings or outside normal working hours;
Able to stay focused and productive in a busy, open area office; and
Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
