Akhurst Machinery (DELTA, BC)

Based in our Delta head office and reporting directly to the President, the Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the supply chain operations of the company to ensure an excellent customer experience and optimal inventory levels.

How you will be successful as Akhurst’s Supply Chain Coordinator:

Supply Chain Coordination

  • Plan, coordinate and monitor supply chain operations by optimally managing incoming and outgoing shipments, producing a positive customer experience in ensuring commitments are met while ensuring warehouse and related assets are used effectively. Actively manage outstanding order and late order reports daily, including liaising with suppliers on late orders;
  • Monitor and resolve transportation service issues in a timely manner, including transportation costs, delivery lead times, damage claims, etc.;
  • Minimize freight costs and maximize customer service by negotiating preferred rates with freight suppliers, monitoring to ensure superb service;
  • Effectively liaise with Inventory Coordinator to ensure optimal inventory control; and
  • In collaboration with management, establish and implement optimal shipping practices and procedures to result in reliable, efficient, and cost-effective shipping and delivery.

Communication

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date order and delivery status in company’s ERP.
  • Ensure customers are fully informed of their order status and the movement of their goods through effective and consistent communication with suppliers and customers;
  • Liaise with warehouse, inventory and other staff to ensure the accurate identification, quantity and storage of stock parts, identifying and resolving issues as they arise; and
  • In collaboration with Account Representatives, ensure that accurate costing and selection of freight is included in customer proposals.

As the ideal candidate:

  • You hold an undergraduate university degree or college diploma in a related field. Your designation as a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) is an asset;
  • You have three years’ experience in logistics or supply chain coordination and ideally inventory management, and are well versed in supply chain principles and best practices;
  • You are passionate in providing superb customer service, with well-honed interpersonal skills and excellent written/oral communication skills;
  • You are a proven effective negotiator;
  • You possess strong collaboration skills with a track record of building strong, enduring relationships with all levels;
  • You can work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and creatively solving problems;
  • You are technically proficient, with a strong working knowledge of logistics software (ERP) and an intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office; and
  • You are committed to the continuous development of supply chain processes and procedures to improve the overall customer experience.
