Based in our Delta head office and reporting to the President, the Payroll and HR Administrator is responsible for the administration of our payroll and benefits in the provinces of BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. This position is also responsible for the administration of various human resource programs.
How you will be successful as the Payroll and HR Administrator:
Efficiently administer the semi-monthly salaried payroll on a full-cycle basis for our 80 employees nationally;
Administer group health benefits on a timely and accurate basis;
Accurately calculate and process all taxable benefits, required statutory deductions, and tax compliance and reporting;
Accurately calculate retroactive and severance payments;
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations (payroll, paid time-off, incentives and other types of accruals), meeting all financial deadlines;
Update scheduled reports and provide effective data analysis upon request;
Implement rigorous control and validation processes to ensure data and transaction;
Respond to payroll and benefit inquiries on a timely and professional basis;
Efficiently handle all year-end payroll processes, including T4 preparation, T2200 completion and reconciliations;
Implement, document and maintain comprehensive payroll and HR procedures;
Effectively administer HR programs including employee onboarding and exiting, performance management, vacation and absenteeism tracking and employee recognition;
Establish and maintain accurate employee records, ensuring that all changes are entered correctly and on a timely basis;
Provide day-to-day support to the Administration Manager; and
Support other HR and Administration projects as required.
As the ideal candidate:
You have 3-5 years of progressive experience in full cycle payroll and benefits administration.
Ideally, you are a certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP).
You may have some experience in the administration of HR programs.
You are familiar with an established and comprehensive payroll system, ideally Dayforce. You may have experience in implementing a payroll system and payroll processes.
You have proven time management skills, including the ability to manage shifting priorities. You thrive under pressure and you never miss a deadline.
You have a love for details, and you can proudly demonstrate your high level of accuracy and thoroughness.
You are known to be a strong communicator, both verbally and written.
You are seasoned in handling sensitive and confidential information in a professional and diplomatic manner.
You are exceptional in your ability to work autonomously and proactively; yet, you work effectively as a team player.
You are a leader and naturally take initiative, combined with exceptional follow-up skills. You are highly motivated, energetic, and have a positive attitude.
